Modernising an A350 Mobile Flight Simulator

Modernising a Next-Generation Airline Training Simulator

About the project

A globally recognised international airline required the modernisation of an ageing flight simulator platform to support a next-generation Airbus A350 training experience.

Future Software was commissioned to redevelop key elements of the bespoke software platform underpinning the simulator, modernising legacy components while maintaining compatibility with established industry-standard flight dynamics and visualisation software.

The result was a refreshed, high-performance simulator platform with improved reliability, maintainability and long-term supportability, extending the operational life of a complex real-time training system without the need for a complete redevelopment.

Case Study Breakdown:

01

The Challenge

An international airline required specialist software engineering expertise to refresh an ageing A350 flight simulator platform.

Originally developed by Future Software for an earlier Boeing 787 simulator, the underlying platform had evolved over many years and required targeted redevelopment to support the next generation of pilot training.

Rather than replacing the entire simulator, the objective was to modernise key areas of the software while preserving the value of an established training system.

02

The Requirement

The project required the redevelopment of selected software components that underpin the simulator, while maintaining compatibility with industry-standard flight dynamics and visualisation technologies already used within the platform.

The solution needed to improve maintainability, performance and long-term reliability without disrupting the wider simulator environment.

03

Our Solution

Future Software redeveloped and modernised key elements of the bespoke software platform that powers the simulator.

Working within an existing simulator architecture, our engineers enhanced core application functionality, refined the software architecture and ensured continued compatibility with established third-party flight dynamics and visualisation software.

By focusing on the software platform itself, rather than replacing proven technologies, the simulator benefited from significant technical improvements while avoiding the cost and disruption of a complete redevelopment.

04

The Outcome

The refreshed platform extended the operational life of the simulator while improving the maintainability and long-term support of its bespoke software.

The project highlights Future Software's ability to modernise complex, business-critical software systems, delivering specialist engineering expertise for high-performance real-time applications where reliability, precision and longevity are essential.
